On Friday I went to my very first fish fry! This seems insane that some how I made it this far in my life - in Cincinnati - without this Friday night Lenten event. But now, I have experienced this, and it was super tasty and cheap and right up the road from my house!
Plus, extra bonus?
Eighth. Grade. Bake. Sale.
Over the weekend, Eric and I went to one of the local parks and did the Parcours Trail (or as fancy Alexis always called it, the excercise trail). It was pretty awesome, actually. It was like a work out at bootcamp, but it was outside, and instead of a class of people, there were just signs. We liked it most because it was different and still a legit work out.
Since we bought the 2012 annual pass for our car, we figured we would check if other parks have the excercise trails. It turns out there are 6 other trails for us to try out. With 7 (hopefully different) courses, we could really work this park series into our work out routines. I am pretty stoked about it. Just because I like to shake up my fitness every now and then.
For someone as obsessed with having pictures taken as I am, the first I did last night was kind of surprising. Not because it’s weird that I would do this first! It’s just a little bit of a shock that this is my first time!
Last night, I was a model! It was for a fun Nightmare Before Christmas make up shoot, which was awesome. A friend of mine did the make up - she is amazing at it, you will see when I get the pictures back - and her friend was the photographer. I got to wear a fun, fancy purple dress and wander around their back yard in crazy make up and get photographed. I mean, seriously, that is right up my alley.
The photographer (Candy Drop Photography) was super sweet and said I did a good job. She said she has already started editing the photos, so I will post them once I have them! It is safe to say this new thing for 2012 will not be a one time adventure! :D
I just gave my cat the first bath of his life. He is so unhappy, and so am I lol. This new thing isn’t something I am excited about LoL. Should I even tag it 52 new?
Last night I did a new thing with a friend! We went and got reflexology foot massages. Afterwards we were all melty and happy. It was pretty awesome.
The best is it was totally spur of the moment kind of thing. We were originally going to go see a terrible movie (LoL I will not name it! So bad!) but instead we got super relaxed via foot. Anddd they gave us a punch card! 8 more and we get one free!
My first this week - bought some girl scout cookies. Turns out when someone tells me to boycott something and their reasons are a list of everything that makes an organization amazing and beautiful, it only makes me want to support them MORE. So here is my support. Bonus, I get cookies out of it!
Without question or hesitation, the most amazing new thing we did in Jamaica was take a tour to the luminous lagoon in Trelawny. Let me tell you all about it.
When I found out I had won this trip, my very first thought was “OMG PHOSPHORESCENTS!” Ever since I found out about the phenomena of the luminous lagoons, I knew I had to visit one. There are only 4 in the whole world! So to have lucked into winning a trip which happened to put me within reach of a dream I have had as long as I can remember is too much for words. It definitely lived up to my dreams!
We boarded a little boat, where two tour guides explained the science behind what was happening. The salt water mixing with a fresh water river, the difference of glow based on the temperature, the other places in the world this happens, and that the Jamaican lagoon glows the brightest. And then the captain says, “Put your hands in the water!” It was like a sea of microscopic fireflies danced in our palms, sparks staying on your skin as you pulled it out of the water. It was actual, real, serious magic. A greenish blue glow with every touch and splash! And then we got to swim in it.
The water was so warm and welcoming. Here we are, swimming in glowing water, under more stars than I have ever seen in my life. If people don’t believe magic exists in this world, they need to go to Jamaica and go for a swim in the lagoon. I was so happy surrounded by phosphorescents! It was the best decision I have ever made, aside from marrying my Eric.
The tour ended and we headed back to the resort knowing this world carries wonderful things in it, and we are so lucky to be a part of it.
ps the picture I used for this post, I just got from google. My camera wouldn’t pick up the glow but it was so magic that I didn’t even care! :)
First time snorkeling! It was actually a little weird to get used to, but it was super fun. The most fun part? Eric loved it! I was so happy to see him enjoying himself swimming!
